We are currently looking to fill two service focused management roles at St. JOHN Restaurants!

  • Assistant Cafe Manager, St. JOHN Bloomsbury 
  • Cafe Supervisor, St. JOHN Bloomsbury

We are looking for true hospitalitarians, people who love the nitty gritty of service and thrive when busy! Admin experience is obviously most welcome, particularly with the ACM role, but a true love of the guest experience trumps all here.

An exciting opportunity has arisen. We are looking for an experienced Assistant Cafe Manager and Supervisor - you will be an ambassador of the St. JOHN ethos. We are looking for passionate Front of House Managers bolster our existing teams. 


Our new St. JOHN Cafe located in Bloomsbury has 22 covers with a focus on bakery and retail along with a selection of wines, we will be running a large number of internal & external events, the site will operate 7 days a week from 8am-7pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday.


We would love to hear from seasoned professionals with terrific wine and coffee knowledge as well as more junior level experience looking to step up and grow! We are keen to meet diverse talent to slot in amongst the movements of our current teams between all sites.


The first St. JOHN Restaurant in London's Smithfield was opened in 1994. In the near thirty years that have followed, St. JOHN has become an institution, much lauded (and copied) for its pared back aesthetic and pioneering simplicity, with Fergus Henderson hailed often as the godfather of modern British cookery.


The opening of St. JOHN Bread and Wine followed in 2003, when the baking of bread for which St. JOHN had become lauded outgrew the Smithfield location. Initially intended as a counter for breads and takeaway wines, offering small plates for those who stopped by as they collected their supplies, its position as a restaurant in it’s own right soon overtook the original intention.


St. JOHN Marylebone is at once a distinctly “neighbourhood” establishment performing many functions within its community; a wine shop to one, a quick pitstop for coffee and a croissant to another, a meeting place for old friends to share a decadent glass for another. All this, while remaining unmistakably “St. JOHN.”

The ethos of Fergus' cooking and Trevor's wine acts as a throughline between each of the restaurants. Iconic simple decor, furniture with minimal features of note except the walls lined with coat hooks leaves the food to speak for itself. While being part of one family with shared values, each restaurant remains unique, having its own daily written menu and distinctive location.

Job Requirements

We are looking for people who:

  • Are familiar with Fergus' ethos of nose to tail and who are passionate about food and restaurants in general
  • A strong passion and understanding of coffee 
  • Thrive in a busy service, with the ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure;
  • Look to exceed guest expectations, whatever the weather;
  • Happily share their knowledge and experience with the team;
  • Have excellent communication skills;
  • Have a proven track record for the training and development of staff;
  • Have a good base wine knowledge (particularly French) - any WSET or other qualifications a bonus;
  • Have a keen eye for detail;
  • Are able to work as part of the wider St. JOHN management team, as well as independently;
  • Have worked in a similar role, in a similar calibre of cafe for two years plus.
