STRAKER'S Dining Room is an exclusive private dining and events space located next door to STRAKER’S on Golborne Road. Following the hugely successful launch of the space, we are now looking for a Head Event Chef to take full ownership and collaborate creatively with our restaurant Head Chef, James.
Designed to feel like home, the Dining Room centres around a long, communal table with an open kitchen and private bar, offering guests a fully immersive dining experience. An extension of STRAKER’S, our food celebrates exceptional British and European produce, seasonality, and thoughtful hospitality.
This is a rare opportunity for a chef who loves creativity, autonomy, and balance — great hours, proper prep time, and focused event services, all within a high-quality, ingredient-led kitchen in a restaurant group with big ambitions.
THE ROLE
As Head Event Chef, you will lead all food operations within Straker’s Dining Room, reporting into the Head Chef and General Manager. You will take full ownership of the space, from prep through to execution, ensuring every event is memorable and executed seamlessly.
You’ll work closely with guests and the wider STRAKER'S team to design and execute bespoke menus, whilst taking huge amounts of pride in the space.
Bonus points if you love interacting with guests, as the space very much lends itself to this!
Job Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Menu development for private events, working alongside the STRAKER'S senior chef team.
- Delivering canapé receptions and seated dinners to the highest standards.
- Leading event prep and service with calm, organised execution.
- In charge of all ordering with full ownership of food cost and food GP.
- Ensuring the space is fully compliant and the highest levels of cleanliness are maintained.
- Upholding Straker’s standards of seasonality, produce quality, and hospitality.
- Managing a small team to deliver on the above! But also happy to work smaller events solo.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- A confident, organised Head Chef ready to step into a role with autonomy.
- Someone with a strong understanding of seasonality and produce-led cooking, with experience in high quality, ingredient led restaurants.
- A collaborative mindset and someone with the confidence to interact with guests.
- Someone with a track record of maintaining and fully understanding their GP margin.
- Calm under pressure, with excellent attention to detail, ready to help uphold our high standards in every way.
