WHO WE ARE
We are a small independent cafe & deli in the heart of Camberwell, London with a mission to serve amongst other things; beautiful coffee and food. We also help local young people step up into paid work by employing, training and mentoring them - we were set up by and are overseen by a local youth employment charity called London Reclaimed.
Although we are small, we think we punch well above our weight! We're all about good food, coffee and creating a friendly and creative environment for both locals and those who are just passing through.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a key role at Lumberjack ensuring the smooth running of the shop day to day, ensuring a strong work culture amongst the team and having a strategic oversight for the business.
The role reports to the Directors of Lumberjack C.I.C. and the operational leadership team of London Reclaimed. You will also work closely with the Youth Employment Programme manager who oversees the Youth Employment Programme that works across Lumberjack cafe and Goldfinch Furniture, the other organisation in the group.
This is a full time role - 5 days per week, 40 hours per week and requires regular weekend working.
Job Requirements
About you:
- Experience running a busy coffee shop, managing a team of baristas and creating a positive culture
- Passionate about good customer service and creating a welcoming, friendly environment
- Passionate about the social community objectives of Lumberjack, and eager to drive our Youth Employment programme forwards
- Organised and willing to be in a role in a fast paced environment with a broad range of responsibilities
Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management:
Lumberjack is about so much more than delicious coffee and tasty
cakes. The environment that we create needs to be welcoming and
friendly to our staff, our customers and our Young People. The
Senior Manager will be at the forefront of creating and maintaining
this culture both through their personal behavior and the leadership
and encouragement that they bring to the wider team.
They will supervise, mentor, and motivate the staff to deliver
exceptional customer service and uphold Lumberjack’s well established standards.
Communications
The Senior manager role requires great communication with staff, customers, young people and a broad range of stakeholders including suppliers to ensure a happy team, happy customers and the smooth running of the business.
Customer Experience:
The entire customer experience will fall under the remit of the Senior Manager. Through their team leadership and value carrying, they will
encourage the staff to create an environment that welcomes our
customers into the Lumberjack community.
Operations Management:
Managing all other managers, supervisors and shop staff to carry out
the day-to-day operations of the café. Delegating roles and tasks as
they see fit to ensure team cohesion and the ongoing success of the
Business. Ensuring the smooth operational running of the business including ordering, financial management and managing processes such as food hygiene practices.
Salary: £35,000
