Job Description
We’re looking for a head Baker / Pastry Chef to help launch and lead a new small batch neighbourhood bakery in Islington (near Angel) supplying our two coffee shops, High Ground.
The shifts are morning starts, no night work. Two days off per week. The working environment is friendly and fun
This is a hands-on role with creative input from the beginning. The bakery has a strong neighbourhood feel, high-quality products and a positive working environment.
The role will include:
• Leading daily small batch baking
• Producing pastries, cakes and seasonal items
• Helping shape and develop the product range
• Managing prep, organisation and bakery workflow
• Maintaining consistency and quality standards
• within a positive, collaborative team culture
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys independent bakeries, looking for work / life balance likes some involvement with launch and wants genuine input into the product range
Job Requirements
• Experience working in a bakery or pastry kitchen environment
• Strong knowledge of pastry, viennoiserie or small-batch bakery production
• Good organisation and ability to manage product ion
• Good attention to detail and pride in quality and consistency
• Interest in neighbourhood bakery culture, hospitality and seasonal products
• Leadership or senior bakery experience preferred
• Someone proactive, reliable and excited to help build something from the beginning
