Job Description

Our Pastry Chefs have specialist knowledge of the science of baking and an extensive repertoire of dishes and decorative ideas. The Head Pastry chef will work in our pastry kitchen, ensuring the production and output is met on time and to an exceptional quality to underpin our Events and Workplace catering division. You’ll have high-levels of creativity, backed by extensive skills in both classic and modern techniques. Able to work with our event planners and sales teams as well as engage directly with clients at their tastings, you’ll be able to respond to bespoke ideas and feedback to create finished products that leave guests feeling delighted.

Job Requirements

A successful candidate will have various skills and qualifications that typically include: 

  • Proven skills in dessert and pastry preparation and decoration for events at scale
  • Excellent attention to detail and high quality of output
  • Able to deal with bespoke work
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, but also as part of a larger team
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety procedures for kitchens and food preparation areas

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead responsibility for the pastry section of our production kitchens
  • Manage any additional chefs that are working in the pastry kitchen as and when needed
  • Plan and oversee production of the section, in line with timings and deadlines set by the main events kitchen (reporting in to Senior Head chef)
  • Manage Stock control of pastry section – ensure minimal wastage and spoilage and order to not run out of stock
  • Work within specified time frames to meet the needs of the business
  • Engage with Planners and sales team to support their client’s needs
  • Support with client menu tastings, presenting ideas and taking feedback to produce the final products for their events
  • Support on some events, serving or overseeing finishing and serving of pastries and sweets – maintaining high level of professionalism when working off site for events
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene and health and safety across all work
