Account Manager
Award-winning craft chocolate maker Pump Street Chocolate are seeking an experienced Account Manager to work to maintain relationships with our retail, restaurant and coffee shop customers and to grow our sales within these sectors.
We have a strong foundation as an independent business that is constantly pushing boundaries and striving to be leaders in the craft chocolate market.
Pump Street opened as a bakery in 2010 in the village of Orford, Suffolk, and was founded by father and daughter team Chris and Joanna Brennan. We continue to be a bakery and café in the village and have also significantly expanded our chocolate business which continues to be focused on making the best quality single farm craft chocolate, all made from the bean to the bar by us at our premises.
This role would be based in our London office, working alongside our Executive Director and Director of Business Development and but would also involve spending the majority of the week out of the office with customers and at events. One day of work per fortnight would be at our factory near Woodbridge, Suffolk.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Business Development as part of the Sales and Marketing team, responsibilities will include:
- Reporting on sales on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
Inbound Customers
- Responding promptly to incoming enquiries that come in through our online form, completing our customer pipeline, and onboarding
Existing Customers
- Maintaining our customer retention programme using Capsule, our CRM system
- Account management (in person, over the phone and by email) – to grow and develop an awareness of the nuances of each of our customers
- Working closely with the Fulfilment Lead at our factory in Suffolk to ensure orders are sent out in a timely manner.
- Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to ensure communications are shared in a timely manner with customers.
- Work alongside the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to think of creative ways to share about our stockists with our wider audience.
- Forecasting & Reporting - Working with the management team to build robust forecasts, especially in the run-up to our busy seasonal periods.
Prospects
- Develop and identify long term partnerships with key national restaurants, coffee shops and delis, specifically working with those with purchasing power.
- Maintain a complete knowledge of our process and products and the context of the craft and wider chocolate market, demonstrated through tastings conducted with chefs, coffee shops and retailers.
- Attending and organising our participation in events, conferences, meetings and exhibitions

Requirements
We are looking for someone who is excited to delve into the world of chocolate and wants to represent a business that both acts with integrity and is willing to break the mould in order to provide the best quality.
Other important skills/education:
- At least two years of experience in sales or account management, preferably in Food and/or Retail
- Knowledge of the wider food scene in London and the UK.
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and work in a fast-paced environment and willing to be adaptable when relevant.
- Education to a degree level, or equivalent experience
- Experienced in using Capsule or other CRM systems
- Exceptional communication skills, both in conversation and in writing, happy to speak in front of a crowd.
- Excellent awareness of Excel or other financing software.
- Confident and commercially savvy – you must feel comfortable interacting with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels and apply business commercial acumen to your thinking.
- An interest in communicating the complexity of our product but mainly a passion for the product!
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and timeliness.
- Experience of using Unleashed for sales data, would be a bonus.
Salary: 30-34k per annum depending on experience
Hours and Terms: Full time, permanent, 40 hours per week, 28 days of annual leave, 5 days sick leave, accrual of additional leave days with long service.
