Job Description

We are seeking an experienced chef to prepare a weekly meal for our Monday Lunch Club for seniors.

Lunch Club provides a healthy meal, a warm, safe venue, but most importantly, a lively and fun social space that supports older people to connect with each other. Each Monday from 12pm to 2pm, in partnership with St Christopher’s Church, we serve a fresh, homemade main meal and dessert to an average of 24 guests in the Pembroke House building on Tatum Street. Guests prefer traditional British foods with minimal spiciness. Lunch Club is a vital local activity that supports both participants’ physical health with nutritious food, and their mental well-being by combatting loneliness and isolation.

The chef is responsible for planning the menu each week with feedback from participants and within a given budget, creating a shopping list with the quantities to be ordered, preparing the meal in accordance with our food safety practices and procedures and cleaning up the kitchen. The chef needs a Level 2 Food Safety certificate. The chef should be experienced in the kitchen and comfortable interacting with the seniors to make sure the food prepared meets their dietary requirements and reflects their preferences.

To learn more and apply, please visit: https://www.pembrokehouse.org.uk/jobs/. You will be asked to submit a CV and the name of one reference and answer one question.

Deadline for expressions of interest: 9am Wednesday 8 July. We will be reviewing applications and conducting interviews on a rolling basis so we advise getting the application in as soon as possible as we could appoint before the deadline.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:
