Nestled in the heart of Shoreditch, you’ll find The Knave of Clubs and One Club Row. We are a 4-storey building with a Top 50 Gastropub on the ground floor, an NRA award-winning restaurant on the first floor, and a private dining room on the top floor.

We’re seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee the entire operation of our bustling pub, restaurant and private dining room.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing large teams, extensive experience in both bar and restaurant environments, and a strong understanding of event spaces. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to drive performance and create memorable experiences for our guests.

The role is supported by a strong management team and will involve a split of administrative and operational responsibilities. Key to success will be someone who is highly organised, a great communicator, and an experienced people manager.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Team
- Lead and manage a diverse team of over 50 staff members, fostering a positive work culture and ensuring high standards of service.
- Oversee hiring, rotas, and learning & development across the building
- Alongside the Head Chef, lead and develop the management and supervisor teams in a structured, supportive, and goal-oriented manner
Building & Compliance
- Oversee maintenance and upkeep throughout the building
- Alongside the Head Chef, ensure compliance including; health & safety, licencing, food hygiene and fire safety.
Financials
- Manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and analyze business performance metrics to drive improvements.
- Oversee payroll, flash reporting, GPs and invoicing
Sales
- Oversee PDR and event strategies and sales goals
- Support the reservations team with finding efficiencies and meeting KPIs

Qualifications:

Min 5 years experience as a General Manager
Demonstrated experience in managing a team of 50+ employees.
Track record of running a site with a turnover exceeding £100,000 per week.
Strong understanding of wet-led/bar operations alongside restaurant and event management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and forecasting.
