Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our restaurant. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is passionate about food, wine, service, and developing high-performing teams.

As General Manager, you will be responsible for creating exceptional guest experiences while ensuring the smooth and profitable operation of the business. You will work closely with the Head Chef to maintain the highest standards across both the dining room and kitchen, continually refining our offering and driving improvements in service, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Base salary of £48,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Restaurant Operations
- Take overall responsibility for the successful day-to-day running of the restaurant.
- Lead service from the front, ensuring consistently warm, professional and knowledgeable hospitality.
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation throughout the premises.
- Ensure all equipment, fixtures and facilities are properly maintained and in good working order, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance as required.
- Uphold all health, safety and licensing requirements in concert with the Head Office team. 

Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, mentor and inspire a motivated front-of-house team.
- Work closely with our two Assistant Managers to create a positive, supportive and accountable working environment.
- Design and manage staff rotas to ensure appropriate staffing levels while controlling labour costs.
- Conduct regular training sessions to improve service standards, product knowledge and team performance.
- Lead by example, fostering a culture of professionalism, hospitality and continuous improvement.

Food & Beverage
- Collaborate closely with the Head Chef to deliver a seamless guest experience and ensure strong communication between the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
- Continually review and refine service procedures to enhance efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Train staff on wine knowledge, food pairings and menu offerings to ensure confident recommendations and excellent guest engagement.

Reservations & Events
- Oversee all reservations, guest communications and table management.
- Manage enquiries for private dining, exclusive hire and special events, ensuring each booking is planned and executed to a high standard.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regular guests and local partners.

Financial Management
- Monitor business performance through regular analysis of sales, labour and operational costs.
- Attend four-weekly profit and loss meetings, contributing insights and action plans to improve financial performance.
- Understand key business metrics and use data to make informed operational decisions.

Job Requirements

- An experienced restaurant manager with a proven track record of leading successful hospitality operations.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- A confident and inspiring leader who enjoys developing and mentoring teams.
- Organised, commercially aware and comfortable working with financial reports and business performance data.
- Knowledgeable about food, wine and hospitality, with an interest in natural wine being highly desirable.
- Calm under pressure, solutions-focused and able to balance attention to detail with a big-picture view of the business.
