Job Description
This is a unique job opportunity in beautiful coastal North Wales, just yards from the sea. We are a small independent cafe, ice cream parlour and bakery where everything is made on-site in our bright and airy kitchen. We are a small team, creating seasonal bakes, celebration cakes, and wedding cakes, with an emphasis on real and natural ingredients. We have grown over the last 8 years from a tiny two man team to a bustling spot in an old bank on the high street.
We are looking for an individual who can run our kitchen, with the help of owners Jack, Laura and team. Skills and responsibilities include baking cakes, stacking layer cakes, piping, making curds/compotes, filling the cake counter each day and prepping for the next, regularly changing the menu.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone wanting to be a lead baker who maybe hasn’t before, but has the passion and work ethic to.
We are closed in January for a rest, closed on Tuesday’s, and sometimes Wednesday’s in quiet season. Shifts are never Earlier than 6am, never later than 5pm.
Job Requirements
- 45 hours a week
- Ensuring our high health and hygiene procedures are implemented & adhered to
- Ordering ingredients and managing stock
- A team player who is open to being taught/being given direction
- Artistic flair - you don’t need to come up with all the recipes but you do need to execute the vision
- Willing to get your hands dirty - washing up is just a part of kitchen life
- Some flexibility - some days are so busy, and some days are not - we are in a seasonal location.
- Work with speed and efficiency, and well under pressure.
- Some professional baking experience is preferential - we can teach the finer details.
