Job Description
The River Café is looking for a new pastry chef (5 shifts/40 hours). This person will be working with our pastry team, whilst also reporting to the Head Pastry Chef in our own exclusive kitchen (not in a basement and with lots of natural light!)
You'll be joining us at the most exciting time, the beginning of summer. When the sun is shining our terrace opens up and we get to use the best variety of ingredients around. The work is varied, fun and rewarding. Restaurant service is just one small part of our operation. Our shifts have reasonable hours (08:00-16:30 or 15:00-23:30). We are closed Sunday nights and we get time off between Christmas and New Years.

Who are we?
The River Cafe is a 1 Michelin starred Italian restaurant based in Hammersmith, London. It was founded in 1987 by Lady Ruth Rogers & Rose Gray. This iconic restaurant has trained the likes of Jamie Oliver, Theo Randall and more recently Anna Tobias (Cafe Deco) and Anna Higham (Lyle's) to name but a few. The River Cafe is famous for its uncomplicated, seasonal and delicious food.
What do we do?
The restaurant and cafe are open 7 days a week (closed Sunday evenings). The online shop operates on site, delivering locally and nationally. Two private dining spaces are available for events, plus there is the opportunity to do off-site events too. At Christmas we sell luxury gift boxes with homemade baked goods all made in our Pastry Kitchen.

The River Cafe is a culinary institution that stands for championing regional Italian produce. The menu is written before service every day, taking into account the day, the weather, the team, and what produce is best that day insuring guests have the best meal possible. The Pastry Kitchen is a fairly new part of the full River Cafe operation. Started seven years ago, we champion the best ingredients, ensuring our chocolate, vanilla, flour and nuts are all sustainably sourced.
