Job Description

Joyau is a lively and welcoming neighbourhood wine bar/bottle shop in Forest Gate. We are open from breakfast through to dinner, mirroring the 'service continu' of French brasseries. 

We offer a broad selection of wines from easy-drinking piquettes to more elegant classics, alongside a clutch of deli products and merchandise. Our menu is French-leaning (not exclusively), but above all we are committed to using the best quality ingredients, respecting seasonality and working with producers that share our ethos and love of food. 

We are so fortunate to have the loyal following of a thriving local community, and aim to deliver the highest level of customer service, whether that be through our food offering, wine list or events, whilst retaining a casual neighbourhood feel. 

Job Requirements

We are seeking an enthusiastic, talented and experienced Chef to join our team and contribute ideas to our breakfast, lunch and dinner offering. 

Occasionally, we invite guest chefs to cook at Joyau – this year we've confirmed pop ups with Malik (l'Orillon, Paris) Julie Hetyei and Cheri Bibi (Biarritz) – giving us the exciting opportunity to work with some talented chefs, from both near and far, and give our locals a chance to try something different to our usual menu.

This is a role with plenty of scope for professional growth, working closely with the management team to define and improve our offering as the business grows.   

Responsibilities

  • Help develop, cost and create new ideas and menu items across breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Work with our team to deliver and execute our existing recipes to a high standard
  • Maintain the highest standards for quality, presentation, and cleanliness
  • Manage and maintain kitchen stock and participate in weekly/daily orders
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed
  • Lead by example and maintain a positive and professional work environment
