We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Sous Chef to play a pivotal role within
our wedding kitchen team. This is a senior leadership position, working closely with the Head Chef
to oversee the planning, preparation, and delivery of wedding menus across a variety of venues.
The Role
As Senior Sous Chef – Weddings, you will take ownership of kitchen operations across multiple
events, ensuring exceptional standards are maintained at all times. You will lead teams on-site,
support menu development, and act as a key point of contact for chefs, freelancers, and
operations teams to guarantee each wedding is delivered smoothly and to Cater’s high standards.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for the admin of the wedding kitchen. Plan the weekly mis en place sheets,
place orders and lead with compliance.
• Lead the preparation, execution, and delivery of wedding menus.
• Work alongside the Head of Weddings Manager to organise menus and delivery.
• Oversee food production, at volume while maintaining premium quality in fast-paced,
time-critical environments.
• Ensure absolute consistency in food quality, taste, and visual presentation across all
events.
• Take a senior leadership role in kitchen operations, supervising freelance chefs and
allocating duties efficiently on event days.
Manage stock control, ordering, and ingredient usage to minimise waste while ensuring
full readiness for each wedding.
• Uphold Cater’s 5-star hygiene standards through rigorous food safety, cleanliness, and
compliance procedures.
• Deliver tastings, meetings, and planning sessions to ensure menus align with wedding
guest expectations.
• Maintain a calm, focused, and professional kitchen culture during high-pressure services,
leading by example at all times.
• Train, mentor, and support freelance kitchen staff to ensure consistency, confidence, and excellence across all wedding events.
About You
• Proven experience in a Senior Sous Chef or similar leadership role, ideally within weddings or high-end events catering.
• Confident managing large-scale service under pressure while maintaining precision and composure.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• A deep understanding of seasonal produce, menu development, and bespoke client-led catering.
• Passionate about delivering exceptional, once-in-a-lifetime experiences through food.
• Willing to work weekends thorugh peak seasons (May to September) earning TOIL.
