Job Description
B. Penhale is a new restaurant in Smithfield from the team behind Camille in Borough Market. Led by chef-patron Elliot Hashtroudi, the restaurant takes inspiration from the regional cooking and food histories of Britain and Ireland, with a focus on seasonal produce, whole-carcass butchery and a wine list that looks to British and Irish producers and the drinking traditions that inform the restaurant.
We're looking for a Restaurant Manager and Supervisor to join our FOH management team and play an important part in the day-to-day life of the restaurant.
Both roles are very much hands-on, working closely with the FOH and kitchen teams to deliver warm, thoughtful service and create a welcoming environment for guests and staff alike.
You'll be involved in overseeing service, supporting and developing the team, maintaining standards across the restaurant and making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes. Depending on the role, this will also include taking responsibility for training, reservations, stock management and the wider operational side of the restaurant.
We're looking for people who enjoy being on the floor, leading by example and helping create a positive, supportive working environment.
Our style of service is knowledgeable and thoughtful without being stuffy. We want people to feel genuinely looked after when they come in, and we’re looking for someone who enjoys that side of hospitality — reading a table, sharing what they know and helping create a really good experience without it ever feeling scripted.
Job Requirements
We're looking for people with experience in a similar restaurant environment, ideally with previous supervisory or management experience. A genuine interest in food, wine and hospitality is important, alongside a willingness to take responsibility, support others and get stuck in.
Warm + Hospitable: You genuinely enjoy looking after people and understand what makes a great restaurant experience. You're confident on the floor, comfortable engaging with guests and know how to create a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.
A Good Communicator: You listen, communicate clearly and feel comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback. You can keep a level head during a busy service, make decisions when needed and help the people around you do the same.
Kind + Supportive Leadership: You enjoy bringing out the best in people, sharing your knowledge and helping others grow in confidence. We want to create a workplace where people feel valued, respected and supported, and where everyone enjoys coming to work.
Attention to Detail: You understand the small things that make a service run smoothly — from a well-organised set-up and good communication between FOH and kitchen, to the atmosphere in the room and the way guests are looked after.
Organised + Proactive: You're comfortable taking responsibility, thinking ahead and finding solutions when things don't go to plan. You understand the importance of the practical side of running a restaurant and are happy to get involved wherever you're needed.
Curious + Enthusiastic: You have a genuine interest in food and wine, the people and producers behind them, and enjoy sharing that knowledge with both guests and the team.
