Job Description
Founded by hospitality entrepreneurs Alina and Dima, with the menu led by Chef Jorge Paredes, Milk Burger is a new neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Notting Hill.
We're all about exceptional ingredients, great burgers, great champagne, and genuinely warm hospitality. Quality is at the heart of everything we do, but we like to keep things welcoming and fun.
We're looking for an Assistant General Manager who's a natural leader, genuinely loves being on the floor and understands what makes a great restaurant tick.
Ideally, you'll come from a high-quality, high-volume casual dining background, where great service, attention to detail and a relaxed atmosphere go hand in hand.
Reporting directly to the owners, you'll play a key role in shaping the restaurant's culture, developing the team and delivering consistently brilliant service. We're looking for someone who leads with warmth and confidence, takes ownership and is happiest right in the middle of a busy service.
As a new neighbourhood restaurant, building genuine relationships with our guests and becoming part of the local community is incredibly important to us. We want someone who shares that mindset, remembers the regulars and makes every guest feel at home.
Responsibilities
- Lead from the floor — be present, hands-on and set the standard for great hospitality during every service
- Work closely with the owners to oversee daily operations, taking ownership of service, standards and team performance
- Recruit, train and develop a confident, knowledgeable and motivated FOH team
- Create a positive team culture built on kindness, teamwork and accountability
- Build genuine relationships with guests, develop a loyal regular clientele and help establish Milk Burger within the local community
- Drive revenue through great service, guest engagement, events and local initiatives
- Manage rotas, labour costs, stock control and other operational expenses
- Work closely with the Head Chef and bar team to ensure smooth communication and consistently high standards
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation throughout the restaurant
- Handle guest feedback with confidence, warmth and professionalism
- Spot opportunities to improve the guest experience, team performance and daily operations — and make them happen
Job Requirements
- A positive, approachable personality with a sense of humour and a strong work ethic
- Proven experience as an Assistant General Manager, ideally within a premium casual dining or high-volume, quality-focused restaurant
- A strong understanding of restaurant operations, including financial performance, cost control and staffing
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, make decisions and manage competing demands
- Confident communicating with different teams and handling challenging situations professionally
- Comfortable using restaurant POS systems and scheduling tools
- A genuine interest in food, wine and the details that make hospitality special
- Calm under pressure, adaptable and solutions-focused
- Ambitious, curious and excited to grow alongside an independent restaurant
We're a young, independent restaurant with big ambitions. This is an opportunity to take real ownership, bring your own personality and ideas to the floor, and help build something special in the heart of Notting Hill.
