We’re looking for a Supervisor / Assistant Manager to join Six Seconds, our new independent wine shop and bar opening in Dalston, projected to open this October.

About Six Seconds

Six Seconds is a bottle shop and wine bar focused on low-intervention wines from across Europe, with a particular interest in Central Europe. Alongside wine, we’ll serve a selection of other drinks and bar snacks, and host evening chef residencies with a changing roster of chefs.

Six Seconds will be affiliated with Basket Press Wines, an independent importer specialising in low-intervention wines from Central Europe. This connection will allow the team to get closer to the wines we work with, discover new producers and regions, and have direct exposure to growers and winemakers.

We are passionate about sourcing the best ingredients, and all the products we sell in the shop will follow high farming standards and respect to the land, people and environment.

We want Six Seconds to be a relaxed, welcoming place where people can discover interesting wines without wine ever feeling complicated or intimidating.

The role

We’re looking for someone who enjoys hospitality, wine and being around people. A warm, curious and engaged person, who takes pride in making customers feel welcome and enjoys being part of a small team.

This is a hands-on role across both the bottle shop and the bar. You might spend part of the day helping someone find a bottle to take home, receive a delivery in the afternoon, and then move into the evening service alongside the team and one of our visiting chefs.

Job Requirements

You’ll work closely with the owners and help with the everyday running of the space – opening and closing, looking after customers, running service, keeping the shop and cellar organised, supporting the rest of the team and generally making sure things work well.

Previous experience in a wine bar, restaurant, bottle shop or similar hospitality environment would be ideal, particularly if you’ve had some responsibility for running shifts.

You don’t need to know everything about wine. Experience with natural, organic or low-intervention wines is a plus, but curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to keep learning matter just as much.
