Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Assistant General Manager to work closely with the GM and play a key role in the day-to-day and longer-term running of Kiez.

This is a senior, hands-on role with real responsibility across service, people, commercial performance, events and operational planning. You’ll be equally comfortable leading a busy evening on the floor, building a rota, reviewing labour, planning a private hire or helping improve the systems behind the business.

You’ll be involved in:

Leading services and taking full responsibility for the restaurant in the GM’s absence.
Supporting weekly planning across sales, labour, staffing and operational priorities.
Building rotas and helping manage labour in line with forecast revenue and trading patterns.
Reviewing key commercial performance including sales, labour, stock, wastage and beverage GP.
Helping plan and deliver private hires, events, brand collaborations and special services from planning through to execution and review.
Recruiting, onboarding, coaching and developing the FOH team and junior managers.
Creating a strong service culture built around warmth, confidence, personality and attention to detail.
Working closely with the kitchen and bar teams to keep communication and standards consistent across the business.
Taking ownership of operational standards including stock, ordering, maintenance, compliance, licensing, health & safety and cleanliness.
Handling guest feedback and service recovery with confidence and good judgement.
Contributing ideas around service, drinks, events, systems and the wider Kiez experience.
Helping us plan ahead for busy periods, seasonal changes, projects and the continued development of the business.

Job Requirements

We’re looking for someone who combines strong hospitality instincts with commercial awareness, organisation and a genuine interest in how a restaurant works as a business.

Ideally, you’ll have:

Previous experience as an AGM, senior floor manager or restaurant manager in a busy, quality-led restaurant or bar.
Strong floor presence and the confidence to lead high-volume evening and weekend services.
Experience managing and developing teams, including training, feedback and performance conversations.
A good understanding of rota building, labour management and the relationship between staffing and revenue.
Commercial awareness and an interest in sales, margins, stock, GP and operational costs.
Experience supporting or running events, private hires or high-volume services.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead while managing changing priorities.
Confidence with restaurant systems, reporting and day-to-day operational admin.
A genuine interest in food, wine, drinks, music and contemporary hospitality.
The ability to take ownership rather than waiting to be directed.
A collaborative approach — someone who communicates well with FOH, BOH and senior management.
High standards without unnecessary formality.
