Jones' Crumpets is opening its first permanent site this Autumn on Golborne Road (W10)!

We’re looking for friendly & enthusiastic Shop Team Members to join our opening team and help us create the kind of shop and atmosphere that we’d enjoy as customers.

THE ROLE:

This is an all-round role in a small shop focusing on our crumpets with a quality-driven selection of ingredients as well as what we believe to be wonderful coffee. You’ll be welcoming & greeting customers, and taking on a variety of different roles with customer interaction & supporting and maintaining a smooth service at the heart of the role.

Hospitality experience is preferred but you don’t need to arrive as an experienced barista or cook by any means. We will train you in the food and coffee side of the role, with coffee training in particular being offered externally via our coffee partner at their roastery, as well in-house with the food side of things. What matters most is that you enjoy working with people, care about doing things well and are willing to learn and get stuck in.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Greeting/welcoming customers, setting the tone and providing a friendly and attentive service
Taking orders & payments quickly and accurately
Aiding in preparation, assembly and handover of food & drink orders
Learning to prepare coffee and other drinks to required standards
Keeping counter, shop & service areas clean & organised at all times
Restocking food, drinks, sundry supplies throughout the day
Supporting opening & closing duties
Receiving, unloading and stocking deliveries
Working closely with the Shop Manager, Food Lead & Barista during service
Providing additional support wherever needed to keep the shop running smoothly

WORKING AT JONES’

We’re building a small, multi-skilled team where everyone has their own strengths and areas of responsibility while supporting each other whenever and wherever necessary.

There won’t be rigid divisions between taking orders, food and coffee. You’ll receive training across the shop and, as your confidence grows, we’d like you to be comfortable helping in different areas during service and opportunity for additional hours.

Job Requirements

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

As mentioned, previous experience in a café, restaurant, bakery, deli or similar would be useful but isn’t essential. Attitude, reliability and willingness to learn matter more to us for this role. Food Safety Certification (Level 2 minimum) would be a bonus too, although training can be provided.

You’ll enjoy talking and interacting with customers, working well with others and being comfortable within a busy environment. We want someone who notices when something needs doing or facilitating, who can think on their feet and take initiative, whether serving a customer, taking a payment, clearing something away, restocking or supporting a teammate.

More than anything, we are looking for individuals who are warm, reliable and naturally hospitable, who share a passion for quality food, coffee & customer service and who would like to develop their skills as part of a small independent business that isn’t like everything else.
