This year, Elizabeth Haigh of Kaizen House launches her new project, Mei Mei, a Singaporean food stall specialising in Hainanese chicken rice and Singaporean Nanyang Kopi, within London’s renowned food market’s new development, Borough Market Kitchen.
Mei Mei is styled on the Kopi Tiams in Singapore, which are dining spaces popular throughout Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia that combine an all-day coffee shop with food vendors. With the variety of dishes and drinks available means that these are places where the different cultures, backgrounds and dietary requirements, of the people in Singapore – and now London – can eat together at one table. Kopi Tiam’s are at the heart of the Singaporean culture and is a place that is inclusive and always delicious.
We are looking for the right candidate to join our small passionate team, working closely with Elizabeth, in our exciting new project in Borough Market Kitchen. It’s the perfect position for many reasons, and we’d like to meet the right person and tell them why.
The operation is a ‘grab and go’ concept but everything is made in-house from incredible ingredients from The Ginger Pig and Borough Market itself, as well as offering an authentic Singaporean Kopi range. As such, the role requires both a cool head and a steady hand to manage busy lunch services with an outgoing personality for our customers.
This position comes with an incredibly attractive work week and hours — Mei Mei offers flexible hours and Borough Market is a purely day-time operation, closed on Sundays*
Salary pay is based on experience.
*We will be open for extended Market Christmas trading hours but closed on 24th, 25th, 26th December and 1st and 2nd January 2020
