Job Description
The role
As Chef Assistant, you're hands-on in the kitchen every shift: prepping ingredients, following our recipes to the letter, keeping the space spotless, and helping us send out consistent, high-quality food to every customer. You'll work directly alongside the founders and the wider kitchen team. It's a fast-paced role in a small, tight-knit crew where the details make the difference.
| Location | 12 D'Arblay Street, Soho, London W1F 8DR |
| Start date | 14 September 2026 |
| Contract | Zero-hours |
| Pay | London Living Wage — currently £14.80/hour |
| Hours | Variable; typically 6–8 hour shifts between 9am and 8pm (see below) |
What you'll do
- Follow our recipes closely and consistently, so every dish meets the Trophy standard
- Prep food to spec — chopping, mixing, portioning, marinating and assembling
- Follow strict food-hygiene rules and procedures at all times: temperature control, allergen handling, and cross-contamination prevention
- Keep the kitchen, equipment and work areas clean, tidy and compliant — through service and at close-down
- Open and/or close the store on rota: doors open at 9am, service runs 10am–7pm, and the store is cleaned down and locked up by 8pm
- Work safely and support your teammates through busy lunch and dinner peaks
Job Requirements
What we're looking for
- The right to work in the UK (essential)
- Some experience in a kitchen, café or fast-food environment (preferred — we'll train the right person on our recipes and systems)
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, or willingness to complete one before you start
- Good awareness of allergens and safe food handling, in line with Natasha's Law
- Reliable and punctual, with the discipline to follow recipes and procedures precisely
- Happy on your feet for long periods in a hot, fast-moving kitchen
- A positive, can-do team player
Hours & shifts
The store trades 9am–8pm, Monday to Sunday. This is a zero-hours role, so your shifts will vary from week to week based on business needs — we don't guarantee a set number of hours, and you're free to decline shifts you're offered.
In practice, most shifts run 6–8 hours and fall into one of two patterns:
- Early / prep shift — around 9am–3pm: open up, morning prep, and cover the lunch peak
- Late / close shift — around 1pm–8pm: cover the dinner peak, then clean down and lock up
Shifts of six hours or more include a 20-minute rest break. We'll agree your availability with you and share the rota in advance.
