Job Description

The Chef runs Jean's savoury kitchen day to day — the lunch programme that turns the bakery into the neighbourhood's WFH canteen. You'll cook simple, seasonal, ingredient-led food (sandwiches, salads, brodo, eggs) to a consistently high standard, working within recipes and standards set in consultation with consulting chef, while owning execution and daily kitchen operations yourself.

Key Responsibilities

Own daily breakfast, lunch, and light bites production — sandwiches, salads, eggs, and seasonal specials
Support early morning prep alongside the bakery team ahead of the lunch service
Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all savoury offerings
Manage stock, ordering, and waste for the savoury kitchen, prioritising local and seasonal ingredients
Uphold food safety, hygiene, and EHO compliance standards
Work within recipes and quality standards developed with consulting chef, feeding back on execution and ingredient sourcing
Support service through the 3pm pickup session where savoury and larder items are involved

Job Requirements

Solid experience in a fast-paced café, bakery-café, or bistro kitchen
- Confidence running a small savoury section independently
A genuine interest in seasonal, ingredient-led cooking
Comfort with early starts and a physically active kitchen role
