About BĀDŌ

BĀDŌ is an independent neighbourhood café and natural wine bar in East Village, Stratford. By day, we serve considered specialty coffee in a cosy, welcoming space; by night, we pour expressive, low-intervention wines in a home-from-home atmosphere.

We believe wine should be joyful, not intimidating. We source from small winemakers, independent importers, and specialist artisan provisions suppliers, with a focus on sustainability and ethical practices throughout.

BĀDŌ’s mission is to create the kind of place where you’d want to read a book, meet a friend for a glass, or simply stop by on your way home to pick up a bottle. We never want to feel pretentious or overly formal, instead aiming for thoughtfully informal. The only thing we take too seriously is our music. 

The name BĀDŌ comes from our founder, Heather’s, Australian nickname — a reminder to have the confidence to make something meaningful. BĀDŌ is built with that same spirit: independent, community-minded and full of heart.

We’re a small, hands-on team working to create a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike. Everyone has a meaningful part to play, whether that’s making a great coffee, greeting our many dog visitors, or recommending the right bottle of wine..

We value curiosity, kindness and initiative. You do not need to arrive knowing everything about wine or coffee, but you should be excited to learn and share your knowledge while also striving to make guests feel at home. BĀDŌ is a place where we encourage people to both develop their palate and bring their own personality to service.
