The Hero's Return is a brand-new pub, dining room, and riverside terrace opening at Circus West Village, right beside Battersea Power Station — one of London's most exciting redevelopments. Our food is led by chef director Jonathan Woolway, who spent 17 formative years at St John and is also chef patron of the acclaimed The Shed in Swansea, bringing an honest, seasonal, "Best of British" approach built on nose-to-tail cooking and zero-waste discipline. We're a start-up in every sense — a brand-new kitchen, a brand-new team, and a menu still being written — offering genuine creative input and room to grow for chefs who want to help build something from the ground up, not just staff a finished restaurant.

Our kitchen culture is built around RESPECT: for each other, for the produce, and for the craft, with zero tolerance for the old-school shouting-and-blame culture that's put too many good chefs off the industry. Mistakes are owned, not hidden; feedback is fuel, not criticism; and every person on the pass — from commis to head chef — is expected to help each other through a busy service, not just survive it. We're a small, ambitious team building something new from day one, and we're looking for chefs who want a genuine stake in that, not just a shift to work.
