About manteca restaurant
manteca is a nose-to-tail restaurant founded by Chris Leach and David Carter. It began life as a pop up in Soho before moving to its permanent brick-and-mortar home on Curtain Road in Shoreditch in 2021. We have been recognised with awards such as Time Out’s Top 100 London restaurants, the National Restaurant Awards, and a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand.
manteca champions sustainable practices in every aspect, from whole-animal butchery, hand-rolled pastas, and house-made breads to wood-fired cuts and our own in-house salumeria. Our ethos is minimal-wastage, sustainable cooking which utilises as much of the animal or produce as possible.
The wine list celebrates low-intervention and classic fine wines from Italy, broader Europe, and further afield north America. We also have an Amari-focused cocktail list.
We are proud to be an independent business grounded purely in hospitality backgrounds. We invite all to sit at the table with us. we promote a culture of learning and development, encouraging independent thinkers.
