Good Measure is an exciting catering social enterprise on a mission to harness the power of food to transform lives and enrich our community.
We produce breakfast, lunch and special occasion catering, serving a wide range of corporate customers across London. And at the same time, we work in partnership with mental health trusts, homelessness charities and refugee groups to support people experiencing unemployment to gain the skills, knowledge and experience to gain work in the hospitality sector.
Our production kitchen provides an opportunity to create work experience and paid employment opportunities for the people we train, as well as generating income to support our wider training work across London.
£22,000 Pro-rata | £11.28 per hour
Normal working hours 0700-1200, Monday to Friday (some flexibility required for booking outside of this time)

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to play a key role in growing our innovative catering social enterprise. You will oversee our main production kitchen - producing breakfast, lunchtime and special occasion catering for corporate customers across London. You will play an important role in our small and dedicated team, with the opportunity to exercise your creativity and passion, as you help shape our menus and our enterprise as it develops.
Purpose of the role: To lead the Good Measure production kitchen, designing and delivering lunch, breakfast and special occasion catering to customers across London.
Design and produce Good Measure lunchtime menus to suit a range of customer needs and requirements
Oversee the smooth operating of the kitchen, including ordering supplies, food hygiene/ health and safety management and cleaning
Line management / supervision of Kitchen Assistants
Training and supervision of Good Measure trainees on work placement
Stock and inventory management
Working with the Operations Manager on menu and service development, including: food styling/ branding, supply chain and logistics.
At least 3 years experience in a professional chef position (E)
Experience of designing, costing and delivering menus (E)
Management or supervisory responsibilities in a kitchen environment (D)
Experience within a cafe or catering operation with significant lunchtime business (D)
Skills and Knowledge
Good knowledge and understanding of health and safety practices within a commercial kitchen (E)
Good understanding of labelling and allergen requirements in relation to pre-prepared food (E)
Knowledge of key trends within workplace / events catering (E)
Qualified to Level 2 or 3, or equivalent by experience in professional cookery (E)
Qualified to Level 2 or above in Food Safety (E)
A passion to use food as a vehicle for social impact (E)
An ability to work independently using own initiative (E)
A flexible approach to working hours (E)
