About us

We build tools to make it simple for restaurants and suppliers to focus on what they do best. Chefs are connected directly to suppliers in all categories, enabling them to trade directly, cut out the middleman where possible, and consolidate ordering and invoicing. We save them time and money, whilst facilitating valuable relationships. 

Suppliers run their businesses on Foodchain: accessing a large network of new customers directly and managing existing customers. Suppliers leverage the Foodchain order management software to consolidate logistics and payments, saving them time, earning more margin and building strong relationships.

Role description

We're on the lookout for an outgoing, creative and proactive marketing intern to engage our passionate audience of professional chefs, foodies, farmers and producers. We want someone creative and self-motivated with a keen interest in food, sustainability and innovative technology.  

You'll be helping our Head of Marketing with a range of tasks but your main responsibilities will be focussed in content creation and community management. This role offers a huge amount of scope for the right person, with the opportunity to move to a permanent hire if it’s a fit on both sides.

Direct report: Head of Sales and Marketing 

MONTH ONE OBJECTIVES

  • Full management of Social Media Platforms 
  • Full understanding of Foodchain’s customer personas & growth strategy
  • Triggered at least 5 leads from social
  • 5% growth of social media following
  • Put together a proposal for suggested strategies for growth to review and approve 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Create and manage all social media content. Reporting to and learning from the Head of Marketing, you will be responsible for our social media strategy and its execution.
  • Managing and creating all video content, ranging from product walk-throughs, supplier produce demos,farm/unit tours, chef interviews and more!
  • Social media accounts for 20% of our growth, we leverage organic social channels to drive qualified leads to our sales funnel, therefore you will be responsible for maintaining and increasing this lead funnel, under the supervision of your direct report. This includes proactive outreach to current and potential members of our community to encourage further connections on the platform, public endorsement of the brand and referrals.
  • Analyse and report social media performance, proactively test new approaches and report monthly findings
  • Event management: initially alongside Head of Marketing and Sales, with a view to owning events. This includes Supper Clubs, panels, conferences, visits to suppliers etc. 
  • Working closely with teams across the organisation: primarily Sales and Supply Operations to complement efforts; feeding back insights from social media on trends as well as highlighting high impact customers and supplier partners.

Ideal candidate

 

  • Proactive and self-motivated, someone hungry to learn and grow quickly within the business. Someone who can operate both within a team, running a team, or can act independently
  • Someone who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo and bring new ideas to the table
  • Someone who loves analysing people and what makes them tick.

Desired experience/skills

  • Some experience in marketing and social media (professional or personal)
  • An interest in all or some of the following: the hospitality industry, the social media landscape, food sustainability, technology
  • Excellent writing skills & a cheeky sense of humour. Someone with an eye for crafting persuasive copy
  • Some creative/design skills- even if only hobbyish using Canva or similar. 
  • An ability to switch seamlessly between tasks and adapt quickly to new conditions, strategies or role requirements
