Origin are looking to employ a new chef working out of their coffee shop in Scoresby Street, Southwark. The position is perfect for someone looking to progress from a commis chef or chef de partie. They’re looking for an individual with a positive work ethic, a great attitude and a willingness to learn. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of produce and ingredients and the ability to develop and embrace company culture. Origin are pleased to be able to offer predominately sociable hours in this role, equating to 40-45 hours per week, with the occasional evening.
Origin have a strong focus on seasonality and sustainability within the food offer. The lunch menu at the Scoresby street location completely changes every two weeks with the breakfast and brunch offerings evolving along with the seasons. These are teamed with daily specials across breakfast, brunch and lunch. The food offer would allow the correct candidate to quickly develop their skills and knowledge when it comes to ingredients and techniques in turn developing their repertoire. The responsibilities include working daily chef shifts cooking and preparing a breakfast, brunch and lunch menus
The ideal candidate will have 1-year kitchen experience as a commis chef or chef de partie or have undertaken a course at Cordon Bleu, Leiths or at a similar school or course. A desire to learn and a creative mind for preparing and presenting food and will work well within a small team
We offer the opportunity for people to up skill themselves with on the job training. All kitchen staff contribute to our menus and are taught to cost and create recipes for a commercial setting. Access to Speciality coffee association barista training to develop their understanding of speciality coffee along with other in house and external education a cycle to work scheme, 50% off food and free hot drinks and a free bag of coffee every week.
