About us

Legare is a new opening situated on Shad Thames, just off tower bridge.  We are a small 35 cover restaurant cooking broadly Italian food with a passion for flavour, using the best quality seasonal ingredients and a heavy focus on vegetables, seafood and fresh pasta.  The menu will flow with the seasons as well as daily specials and sharing options in keeping with the traditional Italian way of eating.

 

We will source all our ingredients carefully and responsibly and work closely with our suppliers ensuring our produce is as ethically sound as possible.

Role description

We are looking for an experienced sous chef, or someone looking to take the next step in their career, who will assist the head chef with the day to day management of the kitchen and lead, teach and train the rest of the team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist head chef in day to day management of the kitchen
  • Managing chefs of all levels and kitchen porters
  • Ensure levels of personal appearance and professionalism within the kitchen are kept to the highest standards
  • Assist head chef with rota writing, ordering, costing
  • Have an active input on the menu, including testing new dishes, utilising seasonal produce and keeping the specials board interesting and up to date.
  • Set a good example to the rest of the team by being punctual, professional and respectful.

Ideal candidate

We are looking for someone with a great passion for food and high quality ingredients, shares our views on ethically sourced produce, and ideally have some experience in pasta production/Italian cuisine. Someone with good leadership skills, as well as a willingness to learn and develop with the team. 

 

Desired experience/skills

Someone who is driven, hard working and a team player, and the ability to manage a team.

Understand the pace of a busy restaurant and organise themselves and the kitchen team accordingly

A good level of food hygiene is expected (level 3 ideally but training will be provided)

Sundays OFF - Potential for fast progression in a small, highly skilled team - 50% discount up to a party of four (so staff can come in with a decent sized group of friends and family) - Last orders are at 9:45 and the kitchen closes at 10. - All staff are cut into tips (FOH & BOH) - Coffee and Wine training for FOH & BOH
