About us

Iris & June is an independent cafe in Victoria, London. Our aim is to make amazing coffee, delicious food and be nice to people while we’re at it. We make almost everything ourselves apart from bread and pastries. 

During the week we have an extensive counter top breakfast and lunch offering. On the weekends we switch to full table service all day brunch. We've developed a loyal, local following and have become known in the neighbourhood as a vibrant and welcoming cafe with a laid back vibe. 

We are a member of the Sustainability Restaurant Association and are committed to producing and serving food and coffee in the most sustainable way.

Role description

We’re after a passionate Sous Chef to join our team. Your main responsibility will be to assist our Head Chef in all aspects of running our small but busy kitchen. 



  • Assisting the Head Chef with the smooth and efficient day to day running of the kitchen
  • Ensuring that all kitchen service and food preparation is performed to the required standard 
  • Responsible for keeping record of daily temperature checks and demonstrating and practicing high standards of hygiene and safety in the kitchen. 
  • Assisting with the training of junior kitchen staff
  • Ensuring wastage is minimised and demonstrating commitment to our company sustainability goals through innovative use of by-products

Ideal candidate

You must have excellent technical skills, knowledge of ingredients and experience working in a similar cafe environment.

As we are a small team, we are looking for someone who is proactive, driven, extremely reliable and happy to get involved in all aspects of running a kitchen. 

Desired experience/skills

  • At least two years experience in a similar cafe kitchen environment
  • Excellent technical cookery and baking skills
  • Extensive knowledge of ingredients
  • Interest and commitment to working sustainably 
  • Interest and experience in vegan and vegetarian cookery and baking
